In an official email from Col. Richard Griffith, Indiana Wing Commander, it was announced that Indiana Wing will be the permanent home of a CAP Gippsland GA-8 Airvan, in addition to the other 8 Cessna 172 and 182 aircraft in the wing arsenal. This brings the total aircraft count in Indiana Wing to 9 total.
The Gippsland GA-8, in CAP configuration, is equipped with the ARCHER imaging system (Airborne Real-time Cueing Hyperspectral Enhanced Reconnaissance), enabling the aircraft to perform advanced searches for things like missing persons, missing aircraft, and other items or structures programmed into the aircraft's imaging system.
